Turkish fashion retailer Koton closing its 2 stores, exiting Ukrainian market

Turkish fashion retailer Koton is closing its two stores and exiting the Ukrainian market, the Ukrainian Retailers Association reported.

According to the association, the retail spaces previously occupied by Koton in Kyiv's Lavina Mall are slated to be replaced by EVA Beauty and Marathon stores.

Koton opened its first store in Kyiv in 2018 and had planned to expand to 15 locations, including in Dnipro, Zaporizhia, Odesa, Kharkiv, and Lviv.

Data from the YouControl analytical system lists Turkish citizens Yilmaz and Gulden Yilmaz as the ultimate beneficiaries of Koton Textile LLC.

In 2025, the company's revenue fell by 20 percent to UAH 60.7 million, while net losses increased by 16.6%, to UAH 43.2 million.

Founded in Istanbul in 1988, the Koton brand is present in more than 70 countries worldwide. According to the company's website, the chain operates over 450 stores. Since 2025, Koton's shares have been traded on the Istanbul Stock Exchange.

Other major Turkish retail chains have previously left the Ukrainian market as well, including English Home, DeFacto, and FLO.
