In March, Ukraine reduced its electricity imports by 25% compared to the previous month, to 942,100 MWh, the DIXI Group analytical center reported, citing Energy Map data.

At the same time, electricity exports, which were last carried out on November 10, 2025, have been restored; their volumes last month amounted to 30,200 MWh.

"The main driver of these changes was the seasonal effect. Rising temperatures reduced electricity demand, while longer daylight hours, sunny weather, and the onset of spring flooding contributed to an increase in solar and hydroelectric generation," the center explained.

As a result of the seasonal factor, there was a periodic surplus of electricity in the power system, which allowed for the restoration of exports.

Of the total export volume, up to 14,400 MWh (48%) was exported to Hungary, 14,300 MWh (47%) to Moldova and 1,500 MWh (5%) to Romania.

Compared to March 2025 (77,300 MWh), export volumes decreased by 61%, noted DIXI Group.

At the same time, Hungary accounted for the largest share of imports in March – 456,000 MWh or 48%. Romania accounted for 189,200 MWh (20%), Slovakia – 167,000 MWh (18%), Poland – 117,200 MWh (13%) and Moldova – 12,700 MWh (1%).

Compared to March 2025 (272,300 MWh), imports increased by 3.5 times.
