Sobolev: Fuel Cashback program costs UAH 20 mln per day
The Ministry of Economy, Environment, and Agriculture has recorded public interest in the Fuel Cashback program. Ukrainians are receiving UAH 20 million in cashback per day for fuel purchases, according to Ministry Head Oleksiy Sobolev.
"Regarding the fuel cashback program, it currently costs UAH 20 million per day. We see that it’s used by people who truly need it. Furthermore, these funds are targeted—they go to people and are marked, and they are used to pay off utility bills," Sobolev explained during government question hour in the Verkhovna Rada on Friday.
He noted that the idea that the funds are only used by owners of large and expensive cars is incorrect. He explained that the fuel cashback program is "targeted," and there is a limit on the funds credited to participants: UAH 1,000 per user per month.
"The alternatives proposed by the opposition [regarding the government’s actions due to rising fuel prices], or those used in various countries, such as tax cuts, would, on the contrary, provide people with the opportunity to take advantage of this discount without restrictions," the minister added.
As reported, the Fuel Cashback program began on March 20 and runs until May 1, 2026. If you already use the National Cashback program, compensation is automatically credited when you pay with your card. To join, you need to open a card at a partner bank and select it for payments and payouts in Diia. The accrued funds can be spent on utilities, medications, Ukraine-made products, books, postal services, or support for the Ukrainian Armed Forces.
The program was introduced to help the population after the increase in fuel prices, which began in March.
