Sown areas of key agricultural crops in Ukraine increased by 2.3% in 2025 – Seed Association of Ukraine
The total sown area of key agricultural crops in Ukraine in 2025 amounted to 80,420.25 hectares, which is 2.3% higher than in 2024 (78,602.71 hectares), but 11.8% lower than in 2023 (91,161.83 hectares), APK-Inform reported, citing data from the Seed Association of Ukraine (NAU) on Thursday.
The association noted that areas planted with durum winter wheat more than doubled—from 209.4 hectares in 2024 to 424.66 hectares in 2025. At the same time, there has been a decline in spring wheat areas, particularly durum varieties, which fell nearly threefold. Winter barley also showed positive dynamics, indicating a renewed interest in the crop among farms.
According to the data presented in the table, the following crops posted growth in 2025: corn (+16.7%), to 25,680 hectares; soft winter wheat (+5.9%), to 25,120 hectares; and rapeseed (+46.3%), to 280 hectares. At the same time, areas under seed sunflower continued to decline (–12%, to 10,620 hectares), as did spring barley (–8.5%, to 2,980 hectares). Seed soybean, after growth in 2024, returned to levels seen two years earlier – 12,840 hectares.
"Overall, across key crops, we are seeing a gradual recovery of seed production areas, which is an important signal for the domestic market and export-oriented segments," said NAU Executive Director Syuzana Hryhorenko.
