The Cabinet of Ministers allocated UAH 12.85 billion for initial work preparing for next winter within regional resilience plans, Prime Minister Yulia Svyrydenko said.

"The government allocated UAH 12.85 billion for initial work preparing for next winter within regional resilience plans. The funds will be directed to 209 critical infrastructure facilities in frontline regions and Kyiv region. The decision was made at an off-site government meeting in Odesa," Svyrydenko wrote on her Telegram channel.

According to her, from the allocated amount, protection of 24 high-voltage substations will be financed by the Agency for Restoration, for which UAH 3.5 billion is earmarked, and another UAH 9.4 billion was directed to frontline regions and Kyiv region.

"These funds will go toward protective structures for distribution substations and other critical infrastructure facilities. We have begun preparation for next winter. Priorities are protection of energy facilities, development of distributed generation, provision of additional power sources for heating and water supply facilities, decentralization of heat supply," she added.

The prime minister also said that within implementation of resilience plans for the first facilities, Odesa region will receive UAH 582.3 million, Mykolaiv region – UAH 280.7 million, Kherson region – UAH 97.5 million.

"The total funding need for measures is estimated at UAH 278 billion (EUR 5.4 billion). To cover it, the government is working on attracting financial resources from international partners. Co-financing from communities for municipal facilities is also envisaged," Svyrydenko wrote.
