South Korea's LX Pantos cites Ukraine's future reconstruction as factor in expanding presence in Europe
South Korean logistics company LX Pantos has acquired a logistics complex in Katowice, Poland, aiming to expand its presence in Eastern Europe and establish a forward-looking logistics base to support demand driven by Ukraine’s reconstruction.
"Through the Katowice Logistics Center, LX Pantos plans to establish an Eastern European logistics hub and expand services for key industries such as automotive parts, consumer goods, and home appliances. The facility is also expected to serve as a forward logistics base to support reconstruction-driven demand in Ukraine once rebuilding begins," the company said in a press release.
The acquisition of the logistics complex, with a total area of 109,000 square meters, for KRW 216 billion (approximately EUR 125 million) is part of a public-private partnership project between LX Pantos, the Korea Overseas Infrastructure & Urban Development Corporation (KIND), and PIS No. 2 Fund of South Korea’s Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport.
"Against this backdrop, the Katowice Logistics Center represents a strategic milestone in strengthening our presence in the European logistics market," LX Pantos Global CEO Lee Yong-ho said in the statement.
