Duncan Nightingale elected chairman of Naftogaz supervisory board

The Supervisory Board of Naftogaz Ukrainy, at its first meeting in its renewed composition on March 12, elected Canadian expert Duncan Nightingale, who has more than 30 years of experience in the oil and gas industry, as Chairman, the company reported on Tuesday.

State Secretary of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine Kostiantyn Marievych was elected Deputy Chairman.

"The formation of a professional and independent Supervisory Board in line with best global standards is an important step for the further development of Naftogaz," said Naftogaz CEO Serhiy Koretsky.

At the meeting, the Supervisory Board also established three committees. The Committee on Appointments, Remuneration, and Evaluation will be headed by Robert Sleszynski, with Duncan Nightingale and Kostiantyn Marievych as members. The Audit and Finance Committee will be chaired by Eric Rasmussen, with Thor Martin Anfinnsen and Anna Artemenko as members. The Strategy and Sustainable Development Committee will be headed by Tor Martin Anfinnsen, with Eric Rasmussen and Anna Artemenko as members.

The Supervisory Board also approved the schedule of regular meetings for 2026 and reviewed a number of operational matters.

As reported, the competition to select independent members of the Naftogaz Supervisory Board was announced on December 12, 2025, with applications accepted until January 16, 2026. On December 29, 2025, the Cabinet of Ministers prematurely terminated the powers of Rostyslav Shurma as the state’s representative on the Supervisory Board at his request. On February 4, Nataliia Boyko announced the completion of her term as Deputy Chair of the Supervisory Board of Naftogaz.

The independent members of the previous Supervisory Board were Tor Martin Anfinnsen, Ludo van der Heyden, Marino Anthony William, and Hukwe Richard Mark, while the state was represented by Nataliya Boyko and Kostiantyn Marievych.
