Ukraine agrees with partners to establish strategic reserve of equipment for energy repairs – minister
Within the framework of the Ukraine Energy Support Fund, a Strategic Reserve will be created to allow Ukrainian companies to stockpile equipment ahead of next winter, First Deputy Prime Minister for Energy Denys Shmyhal announced.
"The available budget for the Reserve already stands at EUR 197 million. Thanks to this mechanism, Ukrainian companies will be able to accumulate energy equipment before next winter and, if necessary, use the stockpiled reserves for repairs," Shmyhal wrote on Telegram Tuesday, following the meeting on energy in Brussels.
He emphasized that Ukraine has also coordinated its financial needs with partners in preparation for the coming winter.
"We are working to fully secure our requirements. In particular, we are counting on EUR 5.4 billion," the energy minister said.
Shmyhal specified that contributions to the Ukraine Energy Support Fund have already exceeded EUR 1.87 billion.
As reported, the minister has repeatedly stressed that one of the priorities for preparing for next winter is the creation of a large reserve of equipment for restoring and repairing energy facilities.
