Oschadbank launches pilot project in Bukovina for mobile branches for communities without banking infrastructure
State-owned Oschadbank has launched a pilot project to expand financial inclusion in Chernivtsi region. Mobile banking branches will provide services to residents of remote communities without brick-and-mortar banking infrastructure, the financial institution announced on its website.
"A mobile branch is a fully-fledged, autonomous office. We are adapting our experience working in frontline regions to expand access to banking services in communities that currently lack brick-and-mortar banking infrastructure," noted Anton Tiutiun, Deputy Chairman of the Board of Oschadbank.
According to the information, the mobile branch’ routes within the pilot project will be developed taking into account the needs of 52 territorial communities in Chernivtsi region in cooperation with local authorities.
Earlier, mobile branches operated primarily in frontline regions where banking infrastructure had been destroyed or limited due to the war, but now they have decided to extend this experience to other areas.
A mobile branch is a specially equipped "bank on wheels," complete with satellite communications, a battery, and armored protection. Here, you can open an account, open a deposit, renew a payment card, receive social benefits or a pension, make money transfers, and pay for utilities and other services.
The financial institution added that the project is being implemented as part of the "My Barrier-Free" inclusive program, with more than 730 of the bank’s branches meeting state accessibility standards, and 33 inclusive branches operating under enhanced accessibility standards.
According to the National Bank, as of February 1, 2026, Oschadbank ranked second among 60 banks in terms of net assets – UAH 494.51 billion, and as of January 1, it had the largest branch network – 1,131.
