Ukraine, Lebanon to work on draft free trade agreement, create agrohub

Ukraine and the Republic of Lebanon have agreed to consider a draft free trade agreement and resume the work of the Intergovernmental Commission on Trade and Economic Cooperation, the press service of the Ministry of Economy, Environment and Agriculture of Ukraine reported following the visit of the Ukrainian delegation to Beirut.

According to the Minister of Economy and Trade of Lebanon, Amer Bisat, cited in the publication, the country is interested in creating an agrohub on its territory and expanding the range of goods in bilateral trade.

"The project of a food and logistics hub in this country is not only about greater trade volumes. It is also about the food security of the region, as Lebanon can become a trade gateway for Ukrainian goods," the department said, citing Deputy Minister of Economy of Ukraine Ihor Bezkaravainy.

The ministry said a separate area of ​​cooperation has been identified as mine action.
