Deputy Prime Minister for European and Euro-Atlantic Integration of Ukraine Taras Kachka expects the Hungarian authorities to take immediate steps to resolve the incident with the detention of Ukrainians.

"The video of the detention of Ukrainian citizens in Budapest recently released by the Hungarian government once again confirms: this is a special operation carried out according to the patterns of the Russian FSB. Such actions not only cause direct harm to Ukraine, but also discredit the fundamental principles of the rule of law on which the European Union and the entire process of European integration are based," Kachka said on Facebook.

He said Hungary's blatantly unlawful actions undermine trust in the legal standards of the European Union.

"Today, throughout the day, I have been in constant contact with representatives of European institutions and the diplomatic corps regarding the situation with the illegal detention of Ukrainian citizens on the territory of Hungary. We demand an immediate correction of the situation, the cessation of unlawful actions and ensuring respect for the rights of Ukrainian citizens. We expect the Hungarian authorities to take immediate steps to resolve this incident," the Deputy Prime Minister said.

As reported, on March 5, 2026, two vehicles of the Oschadbank collection service were detained in Hungary during the regular transportation of foreign currency and bank metals. The transportation of funds and valuables was carried out within the framework of an international agreement between Oschadbank and Raiffeisen Bank Austria. The cargo was registered in accordance with international transportation rules and current European customs procedures.
