Govt allocates over UAH 3 bln for science, 246 institutions, universities to receive basic funding – Svyrydenko

Prime Minister of Ukraine Yulia Svyrydenko announced the strengthening of state support for Ukrainian science, over UAH 3 billion will be allocated for its development.

"The government has approved the procedure for distributing funds for financing scientific institutions and university research… In total, we are allocating more than UAH 3 billion for the development of science – in three main areas: stimulating scientific and scientific-pedagogical workers, developing research infrastructure and modern equipment, and institutional development," Svyrydenko said in Telegram on Friday.

According to her, the amount of basic funding will be determined based on the results of state certification.

"Based on the results of state certification, 246 leading scientific institutions and higher education institutions will receive basic funding. Over 50,000 scientists will have an additional salary supplement for the first time as recognition of the results of their institutions’ work," the head of government has said.

According to her, the largest funding will be received by institutions and universities in Kyiv, Kharkiv, Lviv, Dnipro and Sumy, "where a significant part of the research infrastructure and scientific teams are concentrated."
