EBRD to provide EUR 4.13 mln grant to support Superhumans centers in Dnipro, Odesa

The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) has approved a EUR 4.13 million grant to support Superhumans centers in Dnipro and Odesa, according to information published on the financial institution’s website.

"The grant of EUR 4.13 million to support Superhumans Centers in Dnipro and Odesa is required due to the extraordinary circumstances of the ongoing war in Ukraine… tens of thousands of Ukrainians have sustained life-changing injuries. The current shortage of specialised rehabilitation services in Ukraine forces many patients to travel long distances to Lviv or even abroad," the EBRD materials state.

In mid-2026, the organization will be launching a comprehensive medical center for prosthetics, rehabilitation, psychological support, and sports rehabilitation in Odesa with the capacity to provide care to 600 new patients per year, while also supporting up to 1,200 individuals annually with follow-up services.

At present, Superhumans military trauma centers operate in Lviv and Dnipro: the first was launched in April 2023, and the second opened in June 2025. Together, the two centers have a combined annual capacity of up to 2,000 patients.

Superhumans is a nationwide military trauma center that since 2022 has specialized in prosthetics, reconstructive surgery, rehabilitation, and psychological support for adults and children affected by war.

The organization cooperates with the Ministry of Health of Ukraine to update treatment protocols and enhance medical staff qualifications, supports state hospitals through international medical missions and specialist training, including prosthetists, and also works with the Ministry of Veterans Affairs and the Ministry of Economy on veteran support and reintegration programs.
