NJSC Naftogaz of Ukraine in partnership with Polish state-owned concern Orlen has delivered the first batch of American LNG in 2026 with a volume of almost 100 million cubic meters, the company’s Board Chairman Serhiy Koretsky has said.

"The first batch of American LNG in 2026 is already in Ukraine (...). Almost 100 million cubic meters were delivered to the terminal in Poland’s Swinoujscie at the end of January and have already entered the Ukrainian GTS," Koretsky wrote on Facebook on Wednesday.

According to him, additional gas volumes are extremely important during the period of extreme frosts and terrorist Russian attacks on energy infrastructure.

He explained that the delivered batch is sufficient for a month of winter consumption for approximately 700,000 families.

"In total, in 2026 we plan to import up to 1 billion cubic meters of LNG from the U.S. to Ukraine," the Naftogaz head emphasized.

He added that the next batches of American gas have already been contracted and will be delivered to Ukraine in February-March this year.

"We are working systematically with international partners so that Ukraine has the resource for stable passage through winter under conditions of constant attacks on gas and energy infrastructure. Thank you to our partners from Orlen," Koretsky wrote.

As reported, in November 2025 Naftogaz Group and Polish energy concern Orlen finalized agreements on the supply of 300 million cubic meters of American liquefied natural gas (LNG) to Ukraine in the first quarter of 2026, with total imports of American LNG expected at 1 billion cubic meters next year. By the end of 2025, deliveries of 600 million cubic meters of American LNG were expected.
