The number of successful electronic user identifications via the BankID system of the National Bank of Ukraine (NBU) increased by 21.7 million, or 24.7%, in 2025 compared with 2024, reaching 109.4 million, the regulator reported on its website.

"The growth in the number of identifications in both the public and private sectors demonstrates the demand for this tool and users' trust in it," said Olha Vasylieva, Deputy Director of the NBU's Payments Systems and Innovative Development Department.

In particular, the number of identifications by commercial subscribers in 2025 increased by 1.2 million, or 12.1%, to 6.5 million, while non-commercial identifications rose by 21 million, or 25.6%, to 102.9 million.

Among the factors behind the increase, the National Bank cited the expansion of the range of remote services in the public sector and a revival of activity in the financial market.

In 2025, 11 new subscribers-service providers joined the system, including one non-commercial organization, the Cherkasy Institute of the City NGO. Among the commercial subscribers were Ukrzaliznytsia, the national railway carrier; Opendatabot, a public data monitoring service; four microfinance companies – Hama Upgrade LLC, FC Ukrainian Payment Center LLC, FC Finmarket LLC, and FC Unit LLC. The list also includes the online real estate listings service LUN Co LLC, the earned wage access service FlexiPay Ukraine LLC, a network of clinics– Expert Hospital LLC, and the goods and key sharing and rental service Goodzilla LLC.

The regulator recalled that BankID is used, in particular, for authentication on government portals and in the Diia application, and is also the sole authentication method in the Reserve+ system.

In addition, a number of system documents and technical requirements were updated in 2025. Specifically, procedures for onboarding new participants were optimized, a transition to a new version of the interaction specification was completed, inter-subscriber tariffs were revised, and the ability to verify a user's age was added.

According to the NBU, as of early 2026 the BankID system included 39 identifier banks and 112 subscribers-service providers (97 commercial and 15 non-commercial).
