Bogdan Corporation, one of the largest operators on the automobile market of Ukraine, in June 2012 produced 643 passenger cars, a fall of 21.1% on May 2012 and 3.5 times down on June 2011, reads a company press release issued on July 9, 2012.
As reported, in May the plant produced 815 passenger cars, a fall of 2.1 times year-over-year and almost twice less than in April 2012.
"The sad trend of passenger car production fall continues," the corporation said, adding that the situation in the sector is critical in the light of the absence of state support of automobile manufacturers.
The corporation said that in January-June 2012, Bogdan produced 7,541 passenger cars, which is 21.8% down year-over-year.
The corporation again said that since 2010, the pace of growth in imports of cars exceeds car production by 1.5 times on the Ukrainian market, and in 2008-2010 the share of imported passenger cars grew from 52% to 68%, and in 2011 it came to 72%.
Today the loading of production facilities in Ukraine (Bogdan, UkrAvto, Eurocar and KrASZ) does not reach 20%, and the number of employees at them more than halved compared to 2008.
Bogdan Motors has two modern plants – an automobile plant in Cherkasy (Lada and Hyundai cars, cars under its own brand) and a bus and trolleybus plant in Lutsk.
