FIFA unlikely to review 2018 World Cup host choice as Blatter quits

Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Gennady Gatilov does not believe that the current corruption inquiry targeting FIFA and Sepp Blatter's decision to step down as FIFA president will prompt the world's football body to review its decision to hold the 2018 World Cup in Russia.

"I do not think it will happen," Gatilov told Interfax on Thursday.

Russian Sports Minister Vitaly Mutko said earlier that Blatter's decision to quit as FIFA president was unlikely to impact the choice of Russia as the 2018 World Cup host.
