Ukraine climbs to 26th place in FIFA ranking, England drops to 17th

Ukraine's national football team has climbed to 26th place in the monthly FIFA ranking, which was published on the Web site of the International Football Federation (FIFA) on September 12.

Ukraine moved up two places and is currently ahead of 2014 World Cup Group H opponents Montenegro, which climbed one spot to 27th.

Current world and European champions Spain hold top spot in the table, followed by Argentina, which left Germany in third place. Italy is down two places to fourth, and Colombia is now fifth. It is followed by Belgium, Uruguay, Brazil, the Netherlands, and Croatia.

Ukraine's another component in World Cup qualifying - England – dropped three places to 17th, whereas Poland moved up seven spots to 65th.

Russia is up one position to 15th.

As reported, Ukraine and England played out a goalless draw in a 2014 World Cup qualifier in Kyiv on September 10.

England remains the leader of Group H, collecting 16 points from eight games. Ukraine and Montenegro each scored 15 points, and Poland has 13 points.

England will still have to play two home games against Montenegro and Poland in October. Ukraine will face Poland at home and San Marino away. Montenegro, in addition to the away match against England, will also play Moldova at home.
