There are a lot of people who want to join the Freedom of Russia legion and fight the Putin regime on the side of Ukraine, representatives of the legion said.

"There are more than 300 applications to join the legion over one day. There are a lot of people who want to," a representative of the legion, a Russian serviceman, said at a press conference at the Interfax-Ukraine agency on Tuesday.

Speaking about the quantitative composition of the legion, he noted that its number is large, but did not name the exact number for security reasons.

"Our legion also includes our Belarusian brothers. Our legion includes active and retired military of the Russian Federation and otherwise. People come from different countries to fight the Putin regime," said another representative of the legion.

According to the legionnaires, having surrendered and joined the legion, they told the AFU how the battalion-tactical groups of the Russian army operate, since they themselves have repeatedly participated in various exercises on the territory of Russia.

The legion fighters stressed that there is no special operation on the territory of Ukraine.

"There is a real war going on here against the civilian population," one of the legionnaires stressed.

The participants of the press conference called on the Russian military to surrender, join the legion and fight together against the Putin regime, "so that someday Russia will become a free country."
