Most Ukrainians note deterioration of financial state over year, inability to pay for housing services - survey

KYIV. June 14 (Interfax-Ukraine) - Almost two-thirds of Ukrainians (60%) say that their financial state has worsened over the past year, almost one-third (30%) say it has not changed, and 6% have improved their fiscal state, according to a survey conducted by the Rating sociological group.

According to the results of the study, which were presented at a press conference at Interfax-Ukraine, more than 60% of respondents are unable to pay bills for housing and utilities services, 35% have the opportunity to pay for them.

In addition, the absolute majority of respondents (97%) feel the increase in prices for consumer goods and services this year.

According to 65% of respondents, the main reason for the socio-economic situation, in which the country now is, is a lack of professionalism and corruption of the current government. At the same time, more than half (54%) of them consider the main reason are military actions in the east, almost one-third (31%) - the inability of the Verkhovna Rada to pass the necessary laws, 28% - a lack of professionalism and corruption of the previous Ukrainian government.

The survey was conducted by the Rating sociological group on May 19-25, 2017. Some 2,000 respondents older than 18 years of age were interviewed. The margin of error is no more than 2.2%.
