Poroshenko, Tymoshenko top presidential ratings – survey

KYIV. Dec 14 (Interfax-Ukraine) – Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko and Batkivschyna Part leader Yulia Tymoshenko would receive the most support from Ukrainians if presidential elections were held in the near future, according to a poll carried out by the SOCIS Center of Social and Marketing Research with the Rating sociological service.

According to the survey, results of which were announced at Interfax-Ukraine on Wednesday, Poroshenko's garnered the support of 14.7% of respondents, and Tymoshenko 14.6%.

Opposition Bloc Party parliament deputy Yuriy Boiko was supported by 10%, followed by For Life leader Vadym Rabinovych – 9.2%, Radical Party head Oleh Liashko – 9.2% and Civil Position leader Anatoliy Hrytsenko – 7.8%.

According to the survey, 71.8% of respondents said they would vote in presidential elections, if they were held next Sunday. Some 25.4% said they would not cast ballots.

The survey found 23.2% of respondents concerned about the explosive situation in the country. Some 69.9% found the current situation "stressful," while 5.1% rated it as "stable."

More than one third of Ukrainians polled said settling tariffs for communal services should be a priority, followed by battling corruption among top government officials – 12%, insufficient social welfare programs – 10.6%, high-level crime and danger on the streets – 7.5%.

The survey was conducted from November 24 to December 2 among 4,000 Ukrainians 18-years old and older via formal interview in all regions of Ukraine, except in Crimea and territories not under Kyiv's control in Donetsk and Luhansk regions. The margin of error for the poll is 1.5%.
