KYIV. July 20 (Interfax-Ukraine) - The project to build the Sun Riviera residential complex at 1 Mykilska Slobidka Street in the Dniprovsky district of Kyiv, which was launched by Ukrbud State Corporation (Kyiv) in spring 2014, has led to the emergence of cracks in the nearby residential houses and the Sukhomlynsky Lyceum building, and 11 violations of Ukrainian legislation were uncovered during the realization of the project.

"After beating piles for new buildings, cracks have appeared in the nearby houses, though these are only first piles they [the developers] started to drive in - floors and walls in school No. 272, now it is Sukhomlynsky Lyceum, started cracking," the head of the initiative group for the recreational area of the left bank of the Dnipro River in Mykilska Slobidka, Anatoliy Shapoval, said at a press conference held at Interfax-Ukraine.

The developer of the Sun Riviera residential complex is Ukrbud Development LLC and the builder is Terra Capital LLC (both based in Kyiv). On July 1, 2009, Terra Capital LLC bought five land plots which were categorized as land for residential and public buildings, and for conservation and recreational purposes, with a total area of 7.0671 ha, which were subsequently merged into one site from Mike LLC for UAH 112 million, Shapoval said.

Shapoval noted that, despite appeals to the President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko, Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko and law enforcement agencies about the illegal construction in Mykilska Slobidka, the construction has not been stopped.

"The developer is supported by "Russian money," those businessmen from the inner circle of [former President of Ukraine Viktor] Yanukovych, who are now in Moscow, and Russian capital," he said.
