Kyiv, September 11 (Interfax-Ukraine) – The earlier announced achievement in the form of the large reduction of the corruption element in Ukraine in the state registration of ownership rights to property by construction companies is untrue in practice, representatives of some construction companies from Kyiv said at a press conference at Interfax-Ukraine on Wednesday.

"Nothing went down, on the contrary, it has been increased," Director of Investment and Sales Department at Liko-Holding (Kyiv), part of Liko Group, Larysa Lomakina said, asked about the possible reduction in the price of apartments, taking into account the removal from prices of the corruption tariff during the registration of property.

Lomakina said that the corruption element is retained during the state registration of property by the construction company and during the commissioning of the projects.

Director of Granit Plus, part of Granit construction and commercial firm (both based in Kyiv), Larysa Shevchuk said that maybe the corruption element in the state registration of property today is slightly decreasing.

She found it difficult to assess the phenomenon now, as the company recently did not commission new construction projects and has not faced the state registration procedure.

Head of the sales department at Geos construction company (Kyiv) Natalia Stremetska agreed with her colleague from Liko-Holding, saying that today the fight against corruption in the state registration of property is only at the verbal level.

"We have the trend when we had fighting corruption in 2004 and it was demonstrative for certain persons, but unfortunately, further on this has been purely verbal," she said.

Stremetska said that it would take more time to achieve success in fighting corruption.

"We hope that this time will pass and this will happen," she added.
