Search for sailors from sunken Vera in Turkey continues, says Foreign Ministr
Search for the sailors from the Vera, a ship that sunk off the coast of Turkey on January 31, continues, according to the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry.
Three rescued Ukrainians, who are currently in hospital in the city of Erikli, have been already contacted, Foreign Ministry's spokesman Oleksandr Dykusarov told Interfax-Ukraine.
They were handed warm clothes and a mobile phone for keeping in touch. In addition, the Ukrainian consul will soon come to the city to render necessary assistance and coordinate actions with the competent authorities, he added.
"The search for other crewmembers continues, but so far it hasn't produced any results," Dykusarov said.
The Cambodia-flagged Vera vessel, carrying eleven crew members, including ten Ukrainian nationals, sunk on January 31 off the coast of the Turkish province of Zonguldak.
As of February 1 morning, three crewmembers, who are citizens of Ukraine, were rescued from the vessel. They are currently in hospital, their health condition is stable, the Foreign Ministry said.
