Chief tax officer Zakharchenko appointed interior minister of Ukraine
Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovych has appointed Vitaliy Zakharchenko to the post of interior minister of Ukraine.
Decree No 1024/2011 on the appointment was posted on the official Web site of the president on Monday.
Prior to this, the president dismissed Zakharchenko from the post of the head of the State Tax Service of Ukraine.
As reported, Zakharchenko was appointed head of the State Tax Service on December 27, 2010. Earlier, he held the position of the first deputy head of the State Tax Service.
Zakharchenko was born in 1963 in Kostiantynivka, Donetsk region. In 1991 he graduated from the Riga branch of the Minsk Higher School of the Interior Ministry, in 1998 he gained a master's degree at the National Academy of Interior Affairs, and in 2010 he graduated from the Inter-Branch Institute for Advanced Training and Retraining of Specialists of Poltava University of Economics and Trade.
From 1984 until March 2008, Zakharchenko held operating and managing positions at interior agencies. In May 2008 through July 2009, Zakharchenko worked as deputy head of the State Tax Administration in Poltava Region and after that he was appointed as first deputy chairman - head of the tax police department of the State Tax Administration in Poltava region. In June-July 2010 he held the position of first deputy head of the tax police of the State Tax Administration of Ukraine.
