Interior minister planning to set up full-fledged political force
The leader of the People's Self-Defense civil movement, Interior Minister Yuriy Lutsenko, has said that he is planning to set up a fully-fledged political force on the basis of the Ahead, Ukraine! party, which is to hold its congress in February.
"The People's Self-Defense as an insurgent, protesting, and not very structured civil movement has ceased to exist," his party's press service quoted him as saying in an interview with the Silski Visti (Village News) newspaper on Thursday.
Lutsenko said that the Ahead, Ukraine! party would make a "number of organizational changes" at its congress in February.
"It means that a full-fledged political force, with its leader and secretaries, will be formed... We are switching to the stage of developing the party and drawing up our own political program," he said.
Lutsenko said that it is currently not enough just to support democratic unity.
"We should explain how the economic disaster currently facing Ukraine can be tackled," he said.
