Poroshenko does not exclude holding of special NSDC meeting on energy security soon due to Gazprom actions

Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko has instructed Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council (NSDC) Oleksandr Turchynov to prepare for holding a special meeting of the council on energy security because of the failure of Russia's Gazprom to fulfill the Stockholm arbitration decision and the reduction of pressure in gas transit pipelines.

"I ask you to prepare an appropriate proposal for holding a meeting of the National Security and Defense Council on energy security in case of need," the president said at a meeting of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine in Kyiv.

He asked NSDC Secretary Oleksandr Turchynov, First Deputy Prime Minister of Ukraine Stepan Kubiv to prepare a relevant proposal next week.

"I would like to inform everyone about one more situation. Gazprom traditionally and absurdly took advantage of the cold weather and demonstratively does not take into account the decision of the Stockholm arbitration not only with respect to the transfer of funds, but also in terms of reducing pressure in transit gas pipelines," Poroshenko said at the meeting.

The president of Ukraine stressed this is the manifestation of Russian aggressive disrespect for universally recognized norms of law.
