Poroshenko and Juncker discuss prospects of EU's granting significant macro finance assistance to Ukraine

Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko and President of the European Commission Jean-Claude Juncker at a meeting in Munich have discussed the prospect of the EU's granting next macro financial aid to Ukraine.

"The parties discussed the prospects of the EU's granting the fourth macro financial assistance to Ukraine, as well as the ways of implementing the Eastern Partnership+ initiative," the presidential press service said after the meeting.

The European Commission head assured that the EU is ready to strengthen comprehensive support to Ukraine in 2018 on the way of systemic reforms and the implementation of the Association Agreement between Ukraine and the European Union.

The sides discussed the course of reforms in Ukraine. Poroshenko noted the importance of forming an independent anti-corruption infrastructure in the country, in particular, the independent Anti-Corruption Court.

In addition, the leaders agreed to begin preparations for the next 20th Ukraine-EU summit.

"Concern was also expressed about the implementation of the Nord Stream-2 project, which the Ukrainian president called political," the report says.
