Kyiv reports Ukrainian soldier killed in Donbas

There was a rise in enemy activity in the Anti-Terrorist operation (ATO) zone in Donbas on Thursday, as the result of which a member of Ukrainian Armed Forces has been killed, Kyiv said.

"All in all, six deliberate attacks have been recorded since the day began. Unfortunately, as the result of hostile fire, one Ukrainian serviceman was killed," the ATO press center said on Facebook.

In the sector of Luhansk, the enemy fired 82mm mortars and large-caliber machineguns, the report reads.

In the sector of Donetsk, the enemy fired 120mm and 82mm mortars near Pavlopil and Chermalyk in the Mariupol sector. "In the same area, IFV [infantry fighting vehicle] weapons were fired against the defenders of Vodiane. Furthermore, 82mm mortars, automatic grenade launchers and small arms were fired against the Ukrainian army strongholds near Taramchuk," the report says.
