Officials of the military police of the Ukrainian Armed Forces and National Police are investigating the death of servicemen from a marine brigade, the press service for the anti-terrorist operation in eastern Ukraine said.
The marines' bodies were found in their temporary residence, the press service said in a statement posted on Facebook on Thursday, citing tentative information.
A criminal case has been opened.
In a comment to Interfax-Ukraine agency, the press officer of a separate marine brigade, Oleksandra Bezsmertna, confirmed the marines' death, but refused to provide any other details of the incident.
"The investigation is carried out by representatives of the National Police. I have no right to say anything, but I can confirm the fact of the servicemen's death," she said.
According to the Ukrainian media, four Marines died on February 14 near Shyrokyne, Donetsk region, after a drunk row ended up in shooting.
