Donetsk, Luhansk representatives want 18 Russians for exchange - Medvedchuk

Representatives of some areas of Donetsk and Luhansk regions (ORDLO) have included 18 Russians in the lists for exchange, Ukraine's special representative for humanitarian issues in the Trilateral Contact Group, the leader of the Ukrainian Choice - The Right of the People public movement, Viktor Medvedchuk, has said.

"As for Russians, I will tell you that today representatives of Donetsk and Luhansk have again included all Russian citizens (18 people that I mentioned earlier) in their lists for exchange," he said in an interview with Novaya Gazeta, which was published on Wednesday, February 14.

Medvedchuk said that problems with liberation arise precisely from the Ukrainian side.

"I expect that the Ukrainian government will focus on the issue of the release of our citizens, rather than debate over who can or cannot be released from our side," he said.

He said that negotiations on the exchange of Ukrainian citizens held in Russia were also continuing.

"I can assure you that these negotiations never stopped with regard to [Oleh] Sentsov. They are also underway with regard to [Oleksandr] Kolchenko, [Mykola] Karpiuk and [Stanislav] Klykh. There are preliminary talks about [Roman] Sushchenko. He has not been convicted yet. There are always negotiations, there are different proposals, which, of course, about which I cannot talk about in public," Medvedchuk said.
