Three children injured in explosion in Donetsk region

Three children were injured in the explosion of an unidentified object in Krasnohorivka (Donetsk region) on Tuesday, February 6, the head of the Donetsk regional civil and military administration, Pavlo Zhebrivsky, has said.

"Three children, aged 14, 9 and 3, were injured in the explosion of an unidentified object... Two younger children found an identified object on the street and were playing with it, while the older girl was sitting with her back to the kids," he wrote on his Facebook page on Wednesday.

Zhebrivsky noted that the tragedy occurred at about 21.00 on Tuesday.

All the victims are now in hospital.

"They were provided with necessary treatment. The younger children need specialized help of a pediatric surgeon. The relevant specialist came from Dnipro. I instructed law enforcement agencies to find out the causes of the tragedy as quickly as possible and to take measures to further protect children from such cases," Zhebrivsky said.

Later, Zhebrivsky reported, citing the director of the health care department, Yuriy Uzun, that the condition of the eldest girl was satisfactory. A boy underwent surgery, he remains in the regional trauma hospital, and his condition is of moderate severity.

"The youngest girl is in serious condition. The question of transporting her to Dnipro is now being decided," he added.
