No evidence of Boiko's involvement in corruption scheme during purchase of jack-up rigs - PGO

The Prosecutor General's Office of Ukraine (PGO) has no evidence that the leader of the Opposition Bloc faction in parliament, Yuriy Boiko, is involved in corruption schemes associated with the purchase of two jack-up rigs, B312 and B319, Prosecutor General Yuriy Lutsenko has said.

"Mr. Boiko has not been a suspect since the opening of this criminal case. He was questioned and will be questioned. Now we have no direct evidence of his participation, except for one element when he signed changes to a financial plan... At the moment we have no evidence that he... received funds obtained by criminal means," he said at a briefing in Kyiv on Friday.

Later he clarified that Boiko had signed the financial plan increasing the expenses of Chornomornaftogaz for a respective amount.

At the same time, Lutsenko noted that during the investigation law enforcers would establish the "transfer" of funds to any accounts, beneficiary of which was any person, including Boiko, then such a person "immediately falls into the category of suspects."

"At the moment we have no such information, but we hope to receive all the necessary information," Lutsenko said.

He said that the investigation was underway and that there were plans to identify all members of an organized criminal group and make a respective assessment.
