Two Ukrainian servicemen arrive in Czech Republic for medical rehabilitation

Two Ukrainian servicemen with amputated extremities, Vitaliy Lehusha and Oleh Fedorchuk, left early on Thursday for a week-long medical rehabilitation in Ostrava, the Czech Republic, according to the media liaisons office of the Ukrainian Armed Forces.

A day earlier, a Czech delegation headed by Vice President of the Senate of the Czech Republic Jiri Sestak arrived at a military airfield in Kyiv with the aim of implementing a rehabilitation project for ATO (anti-terrorist operation) participants in the Czech Republic.

"We want to help soldiers fighting on Ukrainian territory. Those who have serious amputations and require high-quality medical care are now offered the possibility of medical rehabilitation in the Darkov rehabilitation and sanatorium center near Ostrava. Today, these are only two veterans, however, this is just the beginning. I hope that this pilot project will continue to work," he said.

According to the report, the rehabilitation program was presented by the REGI Base Foundation.

"Our Foundation has been helping Czech soldiers since 2011. Now we are glad that we got an opportunity to work with Ukrainians. I believe that the servicemen will come fully rehabilitated and return to normal as soon as possible," one of the founders, Hynek Cech, said.
