ECHR registers 3,800 cases against Ukraine due to consequences of Russian aggression

More than half of the complaints against Ukraine that are pending before the European Court of Human Rights (ECHR) are related to Russian aggression in Crimea and the conflict in Donbas, ECHR President Guido Raimondi told Yevropeiska Pravda (European Truth).

"There are about 3,800 complaints against Ukraine related to this in the court's register. And we are also considering five inter-state complaints of Ukraine against Russia," he said.

Raimondi said that citizens and legal entities filed 242 complaints against Russia.

He noted that the number of cases pending in consideration has increased insignificantly compared to the previous year (3,619 cases), where Ukraine is the defendant. At the same time, the number of complaints against Russia in the same period increased by 50%. Last year, the Registry of the ECHR recorded 160 such cases.
