Ukraine together with European partners are looking for an answer to the question on how to counteract Russian fakes, President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko has said.

"The answer to the question on how to deal with Russian propaganda that undermines sovereignty and democracy throughout the world (now it is already recognized) is being sought at the level of the European Union, at the level of its individual member countries, and we are coordinating our efforts from outside with our partners. Within the country, I count on self-regulation and proposals from Ukrainian media communities," Poroshenko said at a solemn meeting on Monday on the occasion of the Unity Day and the 100th anniversary of the proclamation of the independence of the Ukrainian People's Republic.

He noted that the problem of counteracting the spread of Russian fakes in the Ukrainian information space is as relevant as it was 100 years ago.

The president stressed that "sometimes our opposition replicates Russian fakes with pleasure, from time to time they are published even by those media that position themselves as deeply Ukrainian, patriotic and European."
