Canada to support Ukraine internationally, in carrying out reforms
Governor General of Canada Julie Payette has said that Canada will continue to support Ukraine at the international, humanitarian levels and in carrying out reform.
She said in a press statement after a meeting with Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko in Lviv on Thursday that she was here to emphasize Canada's loyalty and support for Ukraine's sovereignty, security and territorial integrity. According to Payette, Ukraine will remain a close ally for Canada, including this year, when the country holds the G7 presidency. She said that Canada would provide assistance so that Ukraine could continue institutional reforms and achieve economic growth.
Payette noted that Canada was and remains at the forefront of international support for Ukraine.
According to her, Canada intends to continue humanitarian assistance to Ukraine and provide support in the fight against corruption and ensuring human rights.
