British citizen Clare Spottiswoode elected chairperson of Naftogaz's supervisory board

British citizen Clare Spottiswoode has been elected chairperson of the supervisory board of NJSC Naftogaz Ukrainy, the company's press service said.

Volodymyr Demchyshyn, the deputy chairman since April 18, 2017, continues to hold this position, the company said.

"The next supervisory board meeting is scheduled for the end of January 2018. The agenda includes the formation of the board's four committees and the appointment of their chairmen," it added.

Spottiswoode was Director General of Ofgas (the predecessor gas-focused regulatory body to Ofgem) between 1993 and 1998 at the time of driving through the breakup of British Gas and the liberalization of the gas market in Great Britain. Over the past 20 years, she has a significant international track record as non-executive director of both listed and unlisted entities. She has also acted as an economist at HM Treasury, the United Kingdom's economic and finance ministry responsible for formulating and implementing the government's financial and economic policy.

The supervisory board formed late in 2017 incorporates Clare Spottiswoode (UK), Bruno Lescoeur (France), Amos Hochstein (US), Steven Haysom (Canada), Volodymyr Kudrytskyi, Serhiy Popyk and Volodymyr Demchyshyn (Ukraine).

Naftogaz Ukrainy unites oil and gas production assets in Ukraine, and is the country's gas transit, underground gas storage, and oil pipeline transportation monopoly.
