JCCC's Russian officer barred from visiting Ukraine for 3 years

One of the Russian officers of the Joint Center for Control and Coordination (JCCC) who left Ukraine on Tuesday has been prohibited from visiting Ukraine for three years because of his travel to Crimea through an inactive checkpoint, assistant head of the Ukrainian State Border Service Oleh Slobodian said on his Facebook page on Wednesday.

"Russian officers of the JCCC left Ukraine last night. They were cleared by the Hoptivka checkpoint in Kharkiv region," Slobodian said.

A lieutenant colonel who visited Crimea through a checkpoint shut down by the Ukrainian government was discovered in the clearing process, Slobodian said. He confirmed in the interview that he visited Crimea in April 2017 through the temporarily shut down Simferopol checkpoint, he said.

"The border guards prohibited him from visiting Ukraine for three years consistent with current laws," Slobodian said.
