Ukraine opened its honorary consulate in Sydney (Australia) on Sunday, December 17, the press service of the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry has reported.

"From now on Ukraine also has its Honorary Consulate is Sydney!" the ministry said on its Facebook page on Sunday.

Yaroslav Duma became Ukraine's honorary consul in Sydney.

The report notes that the consulate's opening ceremony was attended by Ukrainian Ambassador to Australia Mykola Kulinich, Ukraine's Consul in Australia Mykola Dzhydzhora and representatives of the Ukrainian community of Sydney.

"It is significant that the consulate opened at a time when Ukraine celebrates the 100th anniversary of its diplomatic service," the ministry said.
