Poroshenko to submit draft law on State Financial Intelligence Service in coming weeks
Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko has said he intends to submit a draft law to Ukraine's Verkhovna Rada on the creation of the State Financial Intelligence Service (SFIS).
"I am for an active discussion [of the measure] because I intend to submit the bill to parliament during the next several days, maybe weeks," Poroshenko said during a meeting between businessmen and officials in Kyiv on Friday.
The head of state said he expects his version of the bill to be discussed.
As earlier reported, Ukrainian Prime Minister Volodymyr Groysman spoke about the draft law on October 20. According to Groysman, after the creation of the State Financial Intelligence Service, Ukraine's SBU Security Service, Prosecutor General's Office (PGO), State Fiscal Service and National Police would no longer be authorized to investigate economic crimes.
On October 26, Finance Minister Oleksandr Danyliuk said he intended to present a draft bill on establishing the SFIS written by his ministry.
