Govt creates council for strategic development headed by PM

The Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine has created a council for strategic development headed by Ukrainian Prime Minister Volodymyr Groysman. Former prime ministers of Ukraine joined the council.

An Interfax-Ukraine correspondent has reported that the decision was made at a government meeting on Wednesday.

Groysman announced the decision among those passed by the government without discussion.

According to the draft decision, a copy of which has been sent to Interfax-Ukraine, First Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Economic Development and Trade Stepan Kubiv has been appointed deputy head of the council.

The council also includes Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Regional Development, Construction, Housing and Utilities Services Hennadiy Zubko, Deputy Prime Minister for European and Euro-Atlantic Integration Ivanna Klympush-Tsintsadze, Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine Oleksandr Sayenko, some former prime ministers and a representative of the secretariat of the Cabinet of Ministers as secretary.

The council is an interim subsidiary body of the government, which was created to examine and study problematic issues related to the implementation of domestic and foreign policy of the state, the implementation of national programs for economic and social development, ensuring the defense and national security of Ukraine and foreign economic operations.

The secretariat of the government organizes activities of the council and provides for its inventory management.
