Opposition Bloc, People's Will insist on health minister's appointment

2 min read

The parliamentary faction of the Opposition Block Party has demanded that Prime Minister Volodymyr Groysman nominate a candidate for the post of Ukraine's health minister, but said that it will not vote for acting Health Minister Ulana Suprun if she is nominated for the post.

"We insist that the government finally decide on the candidacy of the health minister and submit a respective proposal. I want to say that we will not vote for the acting head who is working today," Opposition Bloc faction leader Yuriy Boiko said at a meeting of the parliament's conciliatory council of the leaders of factions, committees and groups on Monday.

In addition, he recalled that representatives of his faction had registered a draft resolution on a report by the heads of law enforcement agencies in parliament on investigations into high-profile crimes in the state.

"It [the draft resolution] is at the national security committee, and we demand that if the committee does not consider it, it must be brought into the hall and voted in the hall," the politician added.

The head of the People's Will deputy group, Yaroslav Moskalenko, in turn, called on the coalition "to restore order in personnel matters."

"What can we expect from medical reform, when there is no health minister? Nominate Suprun or someone else, or offer several candidates. Let the parliament decide. We need to decide on this issue," he said, adding that a nomination for health minister should be submitted and considered in parliament this week.
