Poroshenko expects Rada to pass law guaranteeing obligatory use of Ukrainian in service industry
Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko expects that Ukraine's Verkhovna Rada will adopt a law guaranteeing mandatory use of Ukrainian in the service industry.
"I expect parliament to adopt a law that guarantees mandatory use of the Ukrainian language in the services industry. We will also respect the rights of citizens who speak other languages and love Ukraine, which is our one and only country," Poroshenko said on his Facebook page on Thursday.
The president said that the state status of the Ukrainian language is being strengthened step by step.
"Ukrainian songs are being played on the radio. Soon the Ukrainian language will take its rightful position in television broadcasts. More than 90 percent of children already study in Ukrainian," Poroshenko said.
