Ukraine should be more efficient in implementing joint program

Alejandro Alvargonzalez, NATO Assistant Secretary General for Political Affairs and Security Policy, believes that Kyiv should step up its fulfillment of the Ukraine-NATO annual national program on the level of ministries and departments and improve interagency coordination.

The suggestion was made at a meeting between Alvargonzalez and the Ukrainian Deputy Prime Minister for European and Euro-Atlantic Integration, Ivanna Klympush-Tsintsadze, a statement posted on the government's Internet portal said.

According to Klympush-Tsintsadze, Ukraine is focused on reconciling the annual national program launched under the aegis of the NATO-Ukraine Commission with the programs of countries implementing NATO Membership Action Plans. She also said that all critiques and recommendations offered by the NATO appraisal mission in October in regard to the fulfillment of the annual national program would be taken into account and carried out by the Ukrainian government so that the program is implemented in full.

Discussing Hungary's attempts to block NATO decisions regarding Ukraine, Alvargonzalez said that a lack of understanding on the bilateral level could not be projected onto the multilateral format, Klympush-Tsintsadze's press service said.

The sides discussed other aspects of political cooperation between Ukraine and NATO, such as the activity of the European Centre of Excellence for Combating Hybrid Threats and NATO trust funds. Emphasis was put on the implementation of the state policy on gender equality and UN Security Council Resolution 1325, "Women. Peace. Security."
