The European Union plans to allocate EUR 50 million for Donetsk and Luhansk regions in 2018, Head of Donetsk Regional Military and Civil Administration Pavlo Zhebrivsky has said, citing Head of Cooperation of the EU Delegation to Ukraine Berend de Groot.

"The funds will be spent mainly on decentralization programs, the development of vocational and higher education and medicine, the support of small businesses, and the strengthening of the safety component of communities," he wrote on his Facebook page on Wednesday, November 8.

According to him, he had a fruitful meeting with the joint delegation of the EU and UNDP missions in Ukraine, in particular de Groot, UNDP Ukraine Country Director Janthomas Hiemstra, and Manager of the UNDP's Recovery and Peacebuilding Program in eastern Ukraine Victor Munteanu.

"We already have many years of positive experience of cooperation with the EU Delegation and UNDP in Ukraine. Therefore, the proposals put forward by Donetsk Regional State Administration were heard, and I hope that they will be backed by our partners in the future," Zhebrivsky added.
