MP Rozenblat says term of measure of restraint against him expired

Ukrainian MP Boryslav Rozenblat has said that the term of the measure of restraint against him expired and promised to continue to facilitate the investigation into the criminal proceedings involving him.

"The term of the measure of restraint against me expired on October 16, 2017. However, in order to prevent possible dirty insinuations by some media, I inform you that I will continue to contribute to a transparent and objective investigation, as I did all the time," he wrote on his Facebook page on Tuesday, October 17.

As reported, Rozenblat is a suspect in the so-called "amber case" opened under Part 4, Article 368 (acceptance of a proposal, promise or receipt of an illegal benefit by an official) and Part 2, Article 369-2 (abuse of influence) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.

In June 2017, Director of the National Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine Artem Sytnyk reported a scheme of illegal amber mining, in which MP Rozenblat and MP Maksym Poliakov of the People's Front faction were involved. The amount of received bribes exceeded UAH 300,000.

On June 21, Prosecutor General Yuriy Lutsenko requested the parliament should give its consent to prosecution, detention and arrest of these two parliamentarians.

On July 12, 2017, the Verkhovna Rada conceded to prosecution of Poliakov and Rozenblat, but voted against their detention and arrest.

The Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor's Office requested UAH 10 million bail as a preventive measure for Rozenblat.

On July 18, Kyiv's Solomiansky District Court chose a pretrial restriction for Rozenblat in the form of a UAH 7 million bail and an obligation to wear an electronic tracking bracelet, not to leave Kyiv and Zhytomyr without notice and to hand over all his foreign passports.

The obligations were in effect until September 12. On August 19, the measure of restraint for Rozenblat was extended until October 17.

Rozenblat told media on July 24 that his family had posted the required bail amount.
