Military Prosecutor's Office preliminary qualifies blasts at Kalynivka arsenal as sabotage

The Military Prosecutor's Office of the Western Region has preliminary qualified the blasts at the ammunition depots near Kalynivka, Vinnytsia region, as sabotage.

"The Military Prosecutor's Office of the Western Region has entered a case into the unified register of pre-trial investigations under Article 113 of the Criminal Code," press secretary for the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) Olena Hitlianska told Interfax-Ukraine.

She said SBU officers will be among the investigation team created to probe the explosions at the ammo depots.

Article 113 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine dubbed "Sabotage" defines the offence as an act aimed at weakening the state, conducted in the form of explosions, arsons or other actions aimed at mass destruction of people, causing bodily harm, destroying or damaging important economic or defense facilities etc. Such actions are punishable by imprisonment for a term of eight to fifteen years.
