Talks with U.S. on provision of lethal weapons to Ukraine enter practical phase - Klympush-Tsintsadze

Negotiations between the United States and Ukraine on providing the Ukrainian state with lethal defensive weapons have moved to a practical stage, Ukraine's Deputy Prime Minister for European and Euro-Atlantic Integration Ivanna Klympush-Tsintsadze has said.

"I would not make concrete forecasts as to which month or week we would expect such a decision, but I understand that our negotiations are moving to a practical level," Klympush-Tsintsadze said in an interview with Voice of America (VOA), posted on Thursday.

According to her, such a decision is both political from the U.S. side and an important practical step for Ukraine, which will allow Ukrainian servicemen to more effectively defend themselves.

The deputy premier recalled that the United States had already delivered military equipment to Ukraine, which allowed reducing human losses.

"I think that the reasoning about saving the lives of our defenders is the most effective," she said.
