Ukrainian First Deputy Interior Minister Serhiy Yarovy has said that only officers who participated in the anti-terrorist operation (ATO) zone in Donbas will be appointed to senior positions at the National Police of Ukraine.

"According to the decision of the Ukrainian interior minister and the head of the National Police, all chiefs of regional police offices must have served in the ATO zone. We invite officers who took a direct part in subunits in the ATO zone to apply for senior positions of the National Police," the Interior Ministry's media liaison office quoted him as saying at a meeting in Mariupol, Donetsk region, on Wednesday, September 13.
